The Benban Solar Power Plant Project is located in the Benban region of Aswan Governorate in southern Egypt. As a landmark renewable energy project undertaken by China National Chemical Engineering Group in Egypt, this project encompasses turnkey delivery for three plant sections, with the scope of work covering all civil works, installation, and commissioning for the photovoltaic areas and auxiliary facilities. Spanning an area of 3 square kilometers, the project stands as one of Egypt’s key initiatives to harness its abundant solar resources and advance the transformation of its energy structure.
In terms of engineering execution, the project completed the installation of 572,332 photovoltaic modules, 100,010 steel piles, 870 kilometers of cable laying, and the installation and commissioning of 270 units/sets of electrical equipment. Additionally, 11,500 cubic meters of concrete were placed, and 1,100 tons of steel reinforcement were fabricated and installed. The substation was also delivered on a turnkey basis, encompassing all works including architecture, finishing, electrical systems, video monitoring, fire alarm, and HVAC, ensuring the plant’s comprehensive operational and support capabilities.
